Phlebotomists began as a studio project but became a functioning quartet around late 2018, and this music was written and arranged to be played live by that quartet. We practiced vigorously, played live on the east coast and eventually rented a farm house in upstate New York where the album was recorded in a 10-day marathon session. The album was mixed/ mastered by Carlos Hernandez (Carlos Truly, Ava Luna) at Gravesend Recordings and is now available for enquiring minds/ears in all of its crooked glory. Sleuthing Music is the second document of Phlebotomists’ twisted endeavor into the dark heart of modern songwriting where genre and style dissolve and sounds and words take on nondescript forms. You may find yourself feeling at ease, only to be ripped from your state of repose and thrown into a confounding and hostile, yet oddly compelling world of psychedelic uncertainty. Listener Beware.
